One of our professional Renovation Consultants will meet you at your property and inspect the pool, and make recommendations. He will then provide you with an estimate specific to your needs. You will have the opportunity to go over Plaster, tile and coping options.
2-Schedule
Your signed contract will be given to our schedule department, our schedule department will contact you to provide you with your starting date and provide additional information.
3-Drainage of Pool Water
Homeowner will stop chemicals from being introduced and equipment will be shut off and water will drained back into the surrounding environment by the use of our portable pumps to avoid any damage to your equipment.
4-Tile
Tile will be undercut and the existing plaster will be chiseled down about 2″ below the tile. (This ensures a flush meeting of the new plaster with the tile). In situations where we can install new tile over the old tile, this step will be unnecessary.
OR
If you are replacing your tile and coping, our removal team will arrive to your property and remove the tile & coping as needed.
5-Ensuring A Flush Surface
Fittings, lights & lines will all be chipped around also to ensure a flush surface. Once chipped, they will be thoroughly sealed with Pool Patch, a hydraulic material to prevent (but not guarantee against) future leaking.
6-Checking For Hollow Spots Due To Aging of Pool
Existing pool surface will be checked for hollows and any found will be removed with a chipping hammer.
7-Pool Surface Cleaning
Your pool will then be cleaned. (Possibly with acid if algae and scum is present)
8-Application of Bond Kote
Bond-Kote will be generously applied. This step in the process is one of the most important, being it is the step that “glues ” the current surface to the new surface by roughening up the surface.Bond Kote is recommended to dry for at least 24 hours prior to the actual plastering process. 9-Double Check
Surface will be once again checked for hollows, and any found will be removed. Often times in older pools, hollows will appear the next day while pool is drained and exposed. Better safe than sorry!
10-Diamond Brite or Premix Marbletite
Our team of plaster applicators will arrive and apply the new plaster into the pool and hand trawl until a smooth surface has been achieved.
11-Curing
The surface will cure naturally over time.
12-Acid Wash
We will lightly acid wash newly plastered surface to expose aggregate in Diamond Brite.
(Note:Over Time Aggregate will expose further to show additional aggregate achieving desired color.)
13-New Main Drain Grate
A new main drain grate will be installed. We, as a licensed pool company, are required to install a new anti-vortex main drain cover when there is currently a flat one. We realize a lot of homeowners wish to keep their flat covers for the simple fact that automatic pool cleaners sometimes get stuck on the new anti-vortex covers. This is totally up to you to re-install the flat cover once our job is complete, but we do not recommend or encourage it.
14-Filling of Pool
Our team will connect to your water supply and set the hose in the pool in a specific location to avoid damage to newly plastered surface.Then we will begin to fill pool to the center line of the tiles above the plastered surface.
(Note: Stoping of water during filling can cause serious problems to pool surface and void our warranty to customer.Water flow to pool must remain constant and hose should not be moved unless our team has instructed you for a special circumstance)
After Pool is Filled
Start the filtration system immediately when the pool is full to the middle of the skimmer or specified water level.
Do not add chlorine for 48 hours
Operate filtration system continuously for a minimum of 72 hours.
Do not turn on pool heater until there is no plaster dust in the pool.
Brush the entire pool surface thoroughly at least twice daily to remove all plaster dust.
Make sure to adjust the PH, Alkalinity and Calcium hardness to the recommended levels. *Read your warranty, or the NPC Start Up Instructions, or ask your pool professional.
Once the 3 day chemical start up is done.
We ask that the homeowner resumes normal chemical service and continues to brush the pool for at least 2 weeks. This continues the exposing process and also adds to the outcome of your pool.
Brushing the pool twice a day is usually the best, taking the brush from the waterline tile and brushing the sediments/debris down to the main drain. Be sure to clean your filter regularly this first couple weeks as it will get dirty rather quickly.
If you have a salt system installed, or plan on having one installed, please wait until at least 30 days from the plaster date to start introducing the salt. Until then, use chlorine.
(Note:One last thing to remember in the curing process (that takes about 30 days) is to not use any wheeled vacuum during that time. Wheeled vacuums could leave lines from its path throughout your pool. Though rare, it does happen and is best to take this precaution as there is not much we can do to help reverse the wheel marks. )
